Paul has over twenty-five years of experience within the Scottish Ambulance Service and has fulfilled a number of key roles from a HEMS paramedic through to his current strategic role at Scottish Government. He is currently undertaking a secondment to the Scottish Government, Health and Social Care Directorate as a national clinical advisor with a wide portfolio including, out of hospital cardiac arrest and major trauma systems. Paul Gowens is currently a Health Foundation, GenerationQ, Leadership Fellow and has recently completed his MSc in Leadership at Ashridge Business School. Richard is a current member of the Resuscitation Council (UK) Executive Committee and author of several international pre-hospital guidelines. He is an active member of the UK International Search & Rescue Team and has experience in the British Armed Forces. Richard was a lead doctor for the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and takes leading role in Event Medicine. He has won several international awards including the top research award from the European Resuscitation Council and BMJ Emergency Team of the Year. Richard is Professor of Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Care at the University of Surrey and has an established research portfolio in pre-hospital resuscitation, trauma care and emergency medicine with an extensive publication record. He is a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Consultant and Director of Research for Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. Richard is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Clinical Lead for Medic One.
